Ferrari California Replica with Real Folding Hardtop is Based on Lexus SC430

Ferrari California Replica 5

From the makers of the admittedly convincing Aston Martin DBS replica based on a Toyota Supra with details inspired from the 2008 James Bond flick, Quantum of Solace, which we shared with you last year, comes a new project, thistime of a Ferrari California roadster built on the Lexus SC430 convertible and named the Cali.

Kit-car builder MI6 from the UK tells us that this is the “World’s first folding hardtop replica” as it keeps the SC430′s retractable aluminum roof system intact. From what we see in the video that MI6 sent over, the same applies for the interior.

What the makeover brings is a new body sculptured after the Pininfarina-designed Ferrari model. If not all, most details are there, but someone who knows Ferraris will be able to tell that this is a clone from the car’s proportions and stance alone.

We sent an email to MI6 to learn about the cost of the transformation, and we’ll update this post as soon as they get back to us.
