First Shots of 2015 Mustang Caught Testing

With just under a year to go until it’s officially unveiled, the 2015 Mustang has been caught testing for the first time.

You’ve seen several renderings and read countless rumors, but today we finally bring you the first images of the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang while caught testing. Unfortunately, this test mule is completely covered in heavy black camouflage, but there’s no mistaking it’s a Mustang judging by its overall dimensions and general shape. If you look closely enough, you’ll even see a brief glimpse of the front grille design and other bits like the long hood and short rear deck.

As we are already well aware, the new Mustang will feature an independent rear suspension, but the base engine will continue to be the 3.7-liter V6. The 5.0-liter V8 will remain optional for the Mustang GT, but don’t be shocked to see Ford offer a turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost at some point. Production will kick off next summer just after the new Mustang has its official debut at the 2014 New York Auto Show, some 50 years after the original was unveiled at the same venue.
